Acworth is a city in Cobb County, Georgia, United States. It is part of the Atlanta metropolitan area. Across the county, there are thousands of people sleeping outside, in shelters, in cars or in some other short-term situation, according to data collected by local entities and reported to the government. Cobb Collaborative counts the number of people who live in homeless shelters, transitional housing, on the street, couch-surfing and in extended-stays — among other temporary and/or unstable forms of housing — as homeless. Of this population of homeless 1,535 are students attending public school in Cobb County as of Fall 2024.
The City of Acworth Birthday Bash seeks to ensure all school-aged children in temporary housing have an opportunity to experience a birthday party. Many are deprived of such a simple gathering due to the restrictions and limitations with housing. Each month we sponsor a community birthday party put on by Life Changing Ministries GA, Acworth Presbyterian Church and the City of Acworth. The birthday party guests celebrate the children who have a birthday for that month. A birthday cake and gifts are presented to the children while the attendees from the City of Aworth, local police department and community members come together to sing happy birthday to the honorees.
All the children are fed, along with any family or friends that attend and participate in games and other activities. During months with significant holidays, such as Thanksgiving and Christmas a special family dinner is served and Santa Clause makes a guest appearance. This small but impactful act gives the children a sense of normalcy even if only for one day.
The center where worship to GOD produces SERVICE to community!
